What Is Your NPI Number

My number is zero. I am on a mission to change this and I want you to join me.

Several years ago I was introduced to podcast’s. Podcast’s has replaced radio and TV as my main source for news and entertainment. It has also introduced me to the concept of making money on-line called passive income.

At first I thought it was a joke and did not take it serious. Making money passively? Really? On the Internet? Really? I was raised the only way to earn a decent living was to work, work and then work some more. In my early 20′s I held 3 or 4 part-time/seasonal jobs at the same time. Now that I’m in my 40’s I have tamed it down to 2 full-time jobs. As I started to do some research on passive income, I would often read how someone had quit a six figure job because they hated it or hated their boss.  My first thought was, their just lazy. How anyone could quit a six figure job was beyond me. I have only dreamt of making that kind of money. So, how did they do it?

Let’s start with what exactly passive income is. True passive income is something that you can walk away from and it will still earn you money. In actuality, passive income will require some activity and attention, but the time involved will be minimal compared to the returns. I call this ‘Near Passive Income’ or NPI. Some examples of NPI are eBooks/blogging, affiliate commissions, vending machine income, selling items on auctions sites, subscriptions/memberships, royalties on books, and income from rental property. My goal is to create one or more NPI’s to replace my 2nd full time job. This will not be an overnight success but will take time and planning.

As I journey down the path of Near Passive Income, I will share with you what has worked for me (and what has not) and what others are doing to earn NPI. My challenge to you is to come up with at least one NPI and post your idea here.
